Spot Light on Surgery2020 Text Book Dr Fadi Qutishat 4 Notes - Inferior thyroid Artery Supplies Both the superior + inferior parathyroid glands - Thyroid gland is a highly vascularized organ,(2ed most common vascularized organ in whole body ) o 1 st Highest vascularized organ is carotid body - Recurrent laryngeal nerve(RLN) supply all motor muscle of larynx except cricothyroid muscle (it supplied by superior laryngeal nerve) - M.C. nerve injured during thyroid surgery is RLN o Unilateral injury leads to→ Hoarseness of voice o Bilateral injury leads to→ Obstruction of airway (stridor) - TSH – most sensitive indicator of thyroid function. - FNA – best invasive initial test for any thyroid nodule or mass.
