STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE SOPSM1112, Usage of Needlestick Resistant Gloves SOPSM1112 Rev. 4.0, Date:18/01/2023, Page 2 of 7 1 Purpose The purpose of this SOP is to provide information on the safe usage of Needlestick/ Puncture Resistant Gloves (NRG) to protect the hands from any injuries related to sharp objects while handling domestic, and infectious waste. AFS must adhere with HMC infection control protocol and guideline where applicable for usage. 2 Scope This SOP shall apply to the applicable premise in HMC where the use of NRG is not restricted by HMC infection control, under the scope of Acciona Facilities Services. 3 Abbreviation and definition Term Stand for PPE Personal Protective Equipment PTW Permit to Work TBT Toolbox Talk SDS Safety Data Sheet (SDS) - is a document that contains information on the potential hazards (health, fire, reactivity, and environmental) and how to work safely with the Material/ product. It also contains information on the use, storage, handling, and emergency procedures related to the hazards of the material. Cleaning Cleaning – is the physical removal of foreign material, i.e., bloody and body substances, dust, dirt, debris, spillages, etc. from a surface or defined area. Disinfection Disinfection – is the thermal or chemical process of inactivating microorganisms on inanimate objects. COSHH Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), is a set of regulations put in place to protect workers from ill health when working with specific substances and materials.
