OBJECTIVES: By the end of this review, Ss will have revised the language they have learnt and the skills they have practised in Units 7, 8, 9 1. Knowledge: - Language focus: A revision and practice on the vocabulary items and grammar points Ss have already studied and the skills they have practised in Units 7,8,9 - Skills: Reading ; Speaking ; Listening ; Writing a) Vocabulary: Revise the words related to traffic, means of transport; Types of films; Types of festivals... b) Grammar : Revise It indicating distance; Should/ shouldn’t; Connectors: although/ though/ however; Yes/ No questions... - Revise how to ask answer the questions about means of transport. Accepting and declining suggestions.; Expressing disappointment.... c) Writing : - Writing a paragraph about traffic problems in your town/ city; Writing a paragraph about the favourite films; Writing an email about the festival.... 2. Competence: Develop communication skills and cultural awareness - Develop communication skills and creativity. - Be cooperative and supportive in pair work and teamwork. - Actively join in class activities 3. Qualities : - Develop self-study skills. Be responsible and hard working II. TEACHING AIDS: - Teacher: Grade 7 text book, laptop, projector / TV/ pictures and cards..... - Students : Text books, studying equipment…. - Computer connected to the Internet. - Sach mem.vn III. WARM UP & INTRODUCTION (5’) Aims: Introduction - By the end of this review, students will have revised the language they have learnt and the skills they have practised in Units 7 – 9. - Ss revise what they have learnt so far in terms of language and skills. Summarise their answers and add some more information if necessary. * Content: Having some warm-up activities to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to inspire Ss to warm up to the new lesson. * Outcome: Having a chance to speak English. * Organisation : Teacher’s instructions….
Teacher’s & Student’s activities Content + Greeting + Chatting: * Teacher writes on the board the word “FESTIVALS”, then asks Ss to retell as many festivals they have learnt in unit 9 as possible. After that, teacher asks Ss some questions: + Do you like taking part in an interesting famous festival in the world? + Do you know the name of the festival which they often throw tomatoes? - Ss do the task independently. - Ss calls on some Ss to give their ideas. -Teacher confirms and leads Ss to the passage they are going to read “La Tomanita” OR: Teacher (T) asks Ss some questions about old lessons and class. - Ask Ss to open their book and introduce what they are going to study…. + Greeting + Chatting: - T_ Ss - Students (Ss) listen and learn how to do. - Open their book and write . 2. PRESENTATION/ NEW LESSON (25’) PRACTICE EXERCISES - SKILLS ACTIVITY 1 : Reading Aim: To practise the skill of reading for main ideas. * Content: Practise reading. Match the heading with the paragraph. * Outcome: Ss get more general and specific information of the text. * Organisation : Teacher’s instructions…... Teacher’s & Student’s activities Content 1. Read the passage. Match the headings in the box with the paragraphs. - Have Ss read the passage quickly and match the headings with the paragraphs. - Ss compare their answers with a partner before giving T the answers. - Confirm the correct answers 1. Sometimes we go to the cinema, but most of the time we watch films at home. It's a cheap entertainment activity because we don't have to buy tickets. It also improves our relationship because it brings us closer. My parents spend quality time with us, and we don't use our phones. Besides, after watching a film, we talk about its lessons and share what we like about it. This is a good way to learn about life and the world. Finally, watching films, especially those in English, helps us improve our language skills. So why don't you start watching films with your family? You can see the good things it brings. ACTIVITY 5: Writing Aim: To practise writing a paragraph about Ss' favourite means of transport * Content: Write a paragraph about the favourite means of transport. * Outcome: Ss can write a paragraph about the favourite means of transport. * Organisation : Teacher’s & Student’s activities Content 5. Write a paragraph of about 70 words about your favourite means of transport. - Ask Ss to discuss and answer the questions in pairs. Then have them write their paragraph individually. - Ask one student to write the paragraph on the board. - Other Ss and T comment on the paragraph on the board. - T collects some writings to give feedback at home. 5.
