2 The focus of Practice 8 is Planning Problem Solving 1 and 2 Doubling and Halving 1 and 2, Problem Solving and Time Yourself Test Page 2 Planning Problem Solving 1 Sort the 2-dimensional shapes according to their properties and attributes and place them in the correct category in the table for example the right- angle triangle is white with odd number of sides. A Venn diagram shows the relationship between a group of different things (a set) in a visual way. Using Venn diagrams allows us to sort data into two or three circles which overlap in the middle. This is an example of a Venn diagram. When reading this Venn diagram above, 5 people have a dog, 6 people have a cat and 7 people have both a dog and a cat. In this Venn diagram, we can see that Harry doesn’t have a brother or a sister.

Identify the capital letters with the correct properties on the table. The general way of writing tally marks is as a group or set of five lines. The first four lines are drawn vertically and each of the fifth line runs diagonally over the previous four vertical lines. It is an effective way of counting or recording information. Let’s look at question 2B. For example, Question 2b): one more child liked crested newts than liked palmate newts. Complete the tally.
