SAMPLE RECEIVING PROCEDURE 1. PURPOSE OF EXAMINATION: To minimize Pre analytical and Analytical Errors. 2. PRINCIPLE AND METHOD OF PROCEDURE: Sample receiving is the first most important step for the safety of the patient. It must be done carefully to ensure that correct specimen is being processed and correct report is being issued to the correct patient. It includes appropriate patient identification, adequate sample volume and well trained staff to minimize the chance of error. 3. PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS: Not applicable 4. TYPE OF SAMPLE: i. Whole blood for ESR, Complete blood count (CBC), Differential leucocytes count, peripheral smear examination, reticulocyte count, Sickling test, Malarial Parasite.) ii. Body fluid (CSF, Ascitic, Pleural, Peritoneal, Pericardial, Synovial). iii. Bone Marrow aspirate smears. iv. Sputum v. Urine 5. PATIENT PREPARATION: Not required.
