As part of our pre-fieldwork preparation, you are assigned to complete a research-based mini- proposal. This task is designed to deepen your understanding of the local context in our service areas and to apply principles of sustainable development. Assignment: A Mini-Proposal for a Sustainable, Community-Based Tourism Initiative in Pesawaran or East Lampung Regency. Background & Objectives: Pesawaran and East Lampung regencies possess significant tourism potential, from marine parks to conservation areas. However, development must be managed sustainably to benefit local communities and preserve the environment. This assignment requires you to research one of these locations and propose a small-scale, sustainable tourism concept. Upon completing this assignment, you will be able to: • Analyze the unique potentials and challenges of the ISCE location through desk research. • Apply the principles of sustainable (economic, social, and environmental) tourism. • Develop a creative idea into a structured and feasible proposal. • Enhance your contextual readiness before starting your fieldwork. Task Description: 1. Focus on Your Assigned Location: Your proposal must be based on your respective ISCE placement regency (Pesawaran or East Lampung), according to the official placement list that was previously announced. 2. Conduct Desk Research: Using credible online sources (e.g., academic journals, official government data, reputable news articles, Google Maps), gather information about your assigned location. 3. Develop a Proposal: Based on your research, create a mini-proposal for a specific sustainable tourism initiative relevant to that location. Deliverable Requirements: • A written proposal, 5-7 pages in length. • Format: PDF document. • Your proposal must include the following sections: 1. Introduction: A brief background of your chosen location and the importance of sustainable tourism there. 2. Potential & Challenge Analysis (SWOT): An analysis of the area's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats related to tourism. 3. The Proposed Concept: A detailed description of your tourism initiative (e.g., an eco-tour, a cultural workshop, an agrotourism trail, etc.). 4. Community & Sustainability Plan: An explanation of how your initiative will actively involve local people and protect the environment. 5. Conclusion: A summary of the potential positive impacts of your proposed initiative.
