PHÒNG GD&ĐT …………………. BÀI NGHE ĐỀ THAM KHẢO TRƯỜNG THCS………………………. NĂM HỌC: 2024 – 2025 MÔN: TIẾNG ANH * Audio script Part 1. Audio script 1: MC: On this show today, Dr Trần is talking about life in Vietnamese families in the past and in the present. So, what can you tell us? Dr Trần: Family was one of the most important things to Vietnamese people in the past and that didn't change. However, the roles of family members changed over time. Today, in nuclear families parents and children take different role from what they do in the past. MC: Really? How? Dr Trần: The role of women changed a lot. Today, around 80% of women have a job to make a living and support their families. A long time ago, men worked outside the home while women raised children and did the housework. MC: What about the role of men? Dr Trần: Father in the earlier generations didn't spend much time with their children and hardly did any housework. But, nowadays men take a more active role in their families. Fathers do more housework and spend more time with their children. MC: How about the role of children? Dr Trần: In the past, children followed their parents advice and didn't express their opinions. But today parents respect their children's opinions. They let their children make choices for their hobbies in the future. Part 2. Audio script 2: Lucy: Hey Mom, I read online that women were only housewives in the past. Is that true? Mom: Well, it depends on when we're talking about your grandma's generation. Yes, she was a housewife. Lucy: But you are? Mom: No, we can't live with only your dad working. I worked at a factory when we first got married. Now I work at the bank. Lucy: OK, what about living with extended family? Mom: Yes, I used to live with my grandparents and my ten aunts and uncles. Back when I was young, many generations would live together. Lucy: You had 10 aunts and uncles? Mom: Family sizes were a lot bigger. Lucy: I also read that people would rarely get divorced. Is that true? Mom: Yes. Back then, it was rare for many women. It was because they couldn't work. Men had to go to work so that women could raise the children. Lucy: Life was difficult back then, huh? Mom: Yes, and people didn't get divorced after an argument. People used to work harder to get through difficult times together. Lucy: I see. That sounds a lot better to me.
