Nội dung text [SY24-25-2] BB Lec - M6: Blood Component Preparation
● Whole blood and pRBCs depends on anticoagulant used in closed system ● The most important and commonly used components in the blood bank are: packed RBC, platelet concentrate, and fresh frozen plasma ○ Cryoprecipitate may be taken from fresh frozen plasma ● For WBCs, the preferred manner of collection is through apheresis or from whole blood ○ Stored at room temperature(Don’t freeze) ○ Not commonly prepared ○ Unlike platelets, it doesn’t need constant agitation/shaking ● Pag whole blood, di na useful ang platelets kasi na deactivate na and dapat room temp ang storage ng platelets with agitation up to 5 days ● Platelets are the blood product most susceptible to bacterial contamination ● Platelets are constantly shaked to maintain fxn ● Platelet rich plasma was transferred to the satellite bag labelled Platelet Concentrate ● To maximize whole blood in the triple bag, soft spin is done first followed by heavy spin ○ Soft spin: pRBCs and platelet rich plasma ○ Heavy spin: pRBCs, platelet concentrate, and the platelet poor plasma ● Most of the fluid mula sa platelet concentrate, trinansfer sa isang bag ng FFP ○ You only leave a few amount of plasma sa platelet concentrate ● **Know the flow, what component will I get if this is the type of centrifugation I will use?
