CHỦ ĐỀ 13: MỆNH ĐỀ CHỈ NGUYÊN NHÂN KẾT QUẢ A. LÝ THUYẾT Các cấu trúc được dùng để diễn tả mối tương quan giữa nguyên nhân – kết quả: 1. Cấu trúc với: ‘… so… that…’ - … quá… đến nỗi… * S + V + so + adj/adv + that + S + V Ex: - He was so lazy that he never washed his clothes by himself. - The man ran so fast that I couldn’t keep pace with him. * S + V + so + adj + a/an + N + that + S + V Ex: It was so interesting a book that I read it from cover to cover. * So + adj + be + S + that + S + V – Đảo ngữ Ex: So lazy was he that he never was his clothes by himself. * So + adv + that + S + V – Đảo ngữ Ex: So fast did the man run that I couldn’t keep pace with him. 2. Cấu trúc với: ‘… such… that…’ - … quá… đến nỗi… * S + V + such + (a/an) + adj + N + that + S + V Ex: It was such a boring speech that I fell asleep. Chú ý: Với danh từ không đếm được và danh từ số nhiều, không dùng quán từ a, an. Ex: - Tom got such good news that he felt very happy. - These are such old chairs that I am going to give them away. * S + V + such that + S + V Ex: The flood was such that everything was swept away. * Such + be + S + that + S + V – Đảo ngữ Ex: Such was the flood that everything was swept away. 3. Cấu trúc với: ‘… so much, so many, so little, so few…’ - … quá nhiều, quá ít… * S + V + so much + N (uncountable) + that + S + V Ex: Tom spent so much time on his study that he didn’t have time for recreation. * S + V + so little + N (uncountable) + that + S + V Ex: The man earns so little money that he can’t support his family. * S + V + so many + N (plural) + that + S + V Ex: There are so many exercise that I cannot do them all. * S + V + so few + N (plural) + that + S + V Ex: My class has so few boys that we can’t form a football team. 4. Cấu trúc với: ‘… too… to V…’ - … quá… không thể… * S + V + too + adj/adv + (for sb) + to V Ex: - The price is too high for me to purchase. - She got up too late to catch the first bus. * S + V + too + adj + a/an + N + (for sb) + to V
