Customer interviews One-to-one interviews with customers are gold dust when it comes to qualitative research and should be prioritised as an option whenever possible. 1. Select a group of customers to interview To keep things simple, we recommend selecting two primary segments of customers: ● Converted in the last 30 days ● Have been a customer for longer than 3 months This gives a fair balance of customers where the motivation of converting is still fresh and a group who are familiar with your product. 2. Send interview request Below is a template you can use to send an interview request to customers via email. Using an incentive such as an Amazon gift card (a neutral incentive) will increase success rates exponentially. For scheduling, provide a scheduling link to avoid the back and forth. GrowSaaS: Interview request 3. Interview completion ● Record every meeting. You should use software like Read.ai, Fireflies.ai or equivalent to record the call. The transcripts generated by these tools can be analysed by ChatGPT, saving time. ● The questions provided are guidelines, not absolutes. The benefit of 1-1 interviews is that you can dig a layer deeper than surveys–don’t be afraid to ask the interviewee to expand on their answer so you can get the whole picture. Be inquisitive.
