GFP Chromatography Kit Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC)
What is Chromatography? • A set of methods for separating molecules based on their physical or chemical properties • Can be used to purify or isolate a single protein of interest (e.g., GFP) from over 4,000 naturally occurring E. coli gene products
Cut the bottom part so that liquid can flow out of the column Load the mobile phase (e.g., protein solution, buffer) into the column Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC) HIC column Protein X with hydrophobic regions → A type of column chromatography → Used for separating molecules based on hydrophobocity → Separation is done by movement of the sample through a hydrophobic column matrix Stationary phase
