Introduction When discussing language features or stylistic elements used in descriptive writing, it's important to acknowledge the most basic units that make up a text. These are the choice of the individual words. Word choice can also be called ‘diction’, 'vocabulary' or 'lexical choice' and these terms can be used interchangeably. To discuss this effectively, we need to develop an understanding of word classes and connotations.
