1 SPEAKING PART 1 Topic 1: Family 1. Who are you closest to in your family? - Well, I think I’m closest to my mother because she’s a sympathetic and understanding person. When I have problems or sad things, I can talk to my mother and know that she always has useful advice for me. 2. Who often makes decisions in your family? - Well, I live in a close-knit and open-minded family, so my parents/ my husband and I/ my wife and I often talk through things/problems together before making final decisions. I believe family members have equal rights to share/express their opinions. 3. Would you like to be the one who makes decisions in your family? - Perhaps, I would like to make decisions because it helps me become more responsible and mature. Topic 2: Community activities 1. What kinds of community activities have you done? - Well, I have done some/several/many community activities because I want to help people with difficulties and make my neighborhood a better place. For example, I attended the Green Summer campaign (chiến dịch mùa hè xanh) when I was at university. I have taken part in some activities such as cleaning up the neighborhood and preparing free meals for poor people. 2. Who usually works for community activities? - Actually, young people, students and people who want to help those who are in need usually work for community activities. 3. What are the benefits of participating in community activities? - Well, there are many benefits of participating in community activities. These activities help young people + V0/ to-V. Benefits of community activities: - Become more mature (chín chắn) and more responsible (có trách nhiệm)/more independent (tự lập) - Learn and develop real-world experience and important skills - Become open-minded (cởi mở) and sympathetic with (đồng cảm) people from disadvantaged backgrounds (hoàn cảnh khó khăn) - Build up/ develop their social relationships

What is your most favourite place in Vietnam? - Honestly, my favourite place is my hometown simply because the weather is cool and windy and the scenery is beautiful/amazing/spectacular/stunning/breathtaking. 2. Have you ever travelled alone? - Actually, I have never travelled alone because it is so boring. 3. Where would you like to spend your holiday summer? - Honestly, I would like to spend my holiday summer in Da Nang because of its sandy beaches and delicious seafood. Topic 4: Seasons 1. How many seasons are there in your country? - Well, there are four seasons in my country such as spring, summer, fall and winter. - Typically, there are two seasons in my country such as the dry season and rainy season. 2. What is your favourite season? - Honestly, my favourite season is summer. Simply because I can go to the beach with my family. - Honestly, my favourite season is spring because the scenery is beautiful and the weather is cool. - Honestly, my favourite season is fall/autumn because the scenery is romantic and the weather is cool. - Honestly, my favorite season is winter because I can wear beautiful warm clothes and go skiing. 3. What is the best season to visit your country? - Honestly, the best season to visit my country is spring because it is beautiful and warm. Well, I think the best season to visit my country is spring because at that time you can enjoy Tet Holidays and visit flower streets downtown. Topic 5: Noises 1. Do you like noisy places? Why/Why not - No. I don’t like/ hate noisy places because I cannot focus on my work and study in these places, reducing my productivity. - Honestly, I don’t mind noisy places because distracting sounds such as people voices, music or noises cannot break my concentration. 2. What types of noises do you often come across in your area? - I often come across different types of noises in my area. I live near a main street, so I hear the noise from cars and motorbikes every day. 3. How does noise pollution affect people’s lives?
3 - I think noise pollution has negative/bad effects on people’s lives. Firstly, loud noises and sounds lead to/cause stress because people cannot relax and sleep. Secondly, people cannot work and study effectively in noisy environments. Topic 6: Public speaking (thuyết trình trước công chúng) 1. Have you ever made a speech (đọc bài diễn thuyết/ thuyết trình) in public (trước nhiều người)? - speak (v) → speech (n): bài diễn thuyết, lời nói - No. I have never made a speech in public because it’s (very) difficult for me and I’m shy. - Yes. I have made a speech in a meeting. I did it last year/ 2 years ago. 2. What would you do to overcome (vượt qua) nervousness (sự hồi hộp, lo lắng) when you speak in public? - nervous (adj): hồi hộp → nervousness (n): sự hồi hộp - I always prepare for my speech / presentation carefully. What are the benefits of public speaking? - Public speaking helps people become more confident, speaking up their opinions easily and clearly, develop their relationships and improve their communication skills. Have you ever been to a traditional craft village (làng nghề truyền thống)? - Yes. I have been to a traditional craft village once. I went to Bat Trang Pottery Making Village in Hanoi 5 years ago. The village is famous for beautiful and high-quality/high-class ceramics/ potteries. 2. What is your favourite traditional craft (nghề truyền thống) in your country? - My favourite traditional craft is Đông Hồ paintings because they are beautiful. 3. What can be done to promote (quảng bá) traditional crafts (nghề truyền thống)? - People should organize some activities and festivals (lễ hội) to advertise (quảng cáo) traditional crafts. Topic 8: Foreign languages 1. What foreign language do you speak? - Well, I can speak English/ Chinese very well. - I can get by in English = I can speak basic English. 2.
