CHAPTER 3 Organizational Structure of the Police Service Topic Objectives: 1. State the division of ranks. 2. State the number of ranks under each division and name then. 3. This organizational structure represents the sanctioned strength of the police service which is divided by statute into the First Division and the Second Division. Within the First Division are the senior managers and policy makers and this group of elite are identified by their designate, the Executive. The Executive comprises all the Commissioners:- the Assistant Commissioner of Police , the Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Commissioner of Police. In 2014, the offices held by the Executive were; COP Overall head of command of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service DCP Administration Operations Crime & Support ACP Administration Anti-Crime Operations Community Relations Crime Homicide Mobile North/West Professional Standards Bureau South Special Branch Tobago In 1989, arising out of an Organization & Management Division report on the police service, government implemented a decision to introduce civilian support for the police service so as to allow more officers to be used in addressing issues of crime in the country. This began with a clerical staff FIRST DIVISION SECOND DIVISION Commissioner of Police Inspector Deputy Commissioner of Police Sergeant Assistant Commissioner of Police Corporal Senior Superintendent of Police Constable Superintendent of Police Assistant Superintendent of Police
and has grown today to senior public servants working within the police service, with several civilianized contract posts being created.
