Prof. G. SHANMUGAM, obtained his B.E. Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951 from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai and Master’s degree in I.C. Engines in 1958 from Purdue University, U.S.A. where he had an opportunity to serve as a part-time Teaching Assistant. During his distinguished academic career for the past 58 years, he served as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at P.S.G. College of Technology, Coimbatore, University of Basrah, Iraq and Gulf Polytechnic, Bahrain. As founder Principal, he served Mepco Schlenk Engineering College for a period of 18 years and developed it as No. Technical Institution in Tamilnadu. The College received the First National Award as the Best Engineering College in the year 1998 from ISTE, instituted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai. He has received more then 10 personal awards at the Regional, State and National level including the Best Principal Award. Outstanding Engineer award. Achiever Award etc. He is fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Calculta. He is a Life Member of I.S.T.E. Quality Form of India and Acoustic Society of India. At present, even at the age of 82, he is actively serving as Advisor at Kamaraj College of Engineering and Sri. Vidhya College of ^Engineering. He is also a member of Governing Council at Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering, Chennai. He has traveled to 17 countries so far and he is planning to visit some more countries. S. RAviNdRAN is currently the Principal of VI Institute of Technology, Chengalpet, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. He obtained his PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 1989. He has over 18 years of teaching experience besides, most notably, working as a research scientist at Research and Development Center (RDC) of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Al-Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He played a pioneering role in the development of Center Of Excellence and Relevance (CORE) which was formally launched by the eminent former Indian president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam (then Principal Scientific Advisor to the Govt. of India). He was the recipient of the WEC-IIEE- IAEWP ENVIRONMENT AWARD, conferred at the 6th World Environment Congress, New Delhi, on December 1997, for his outstanding contribution in the area of ‘pollution control’.
