You should say: What the law is how you first learned about the law who the law affects and explain why it is a good law. (what would happen without it?) A law that I think is really beneficial in my country is the ban on smoking in public spaces. It has been in effect for a few years now, and I truly believe it has had a positive impact on public health. I first became aware of the law when I noticed that public places like restaurants and shopping malls started having clear signs prohibiting smoking. This law prohibits smoking in indoor public areas such as cafes, offices, public transport, and even parks. It’s a straightforward rule that aims to protect people from second-hand smoke and encourage healthier habits. I remember being a little surprised when it was introduced, but now it just feels normal. One of the main reasons this law is so effective is because it helps reduce exposure to second-hand smoke, which is a major health hazard. For example, studies have proven that second-hand smoke can cause lung cancer and heart disease in non-smokers. By banning smoking in public spaces, the law helps to create healthier environments for everyone, not just smokers. Before this law, it wasn’t uncommon to find people smoking in enclosed spaces where others had no choice but to breathe in the harmful smoke. It was not only annoying but also dangerous for people who didn’t smoke and those with respiratory issues. Now that smoking is banned indoors, there’s a significant improvement in air quality, and I’ve noticed that more people are taking their health seriously. I think this law has made me more conscious of my own health and the environment around me. It’s reassuring to know that I can go out without having to worry about breathing in harmful smoke. Plus, I’ve seen many smokers quit or reduce their smoking habits, which I think is a positive change. Overall, I believe the smoking ban in public spaces is a law that has significantly contributed to a healthier society. Without it, I think more people would suffer from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke, and public spaces would be unpleasant for everyone. It’s a law that benefits not only smokers but also non- smokers, which is why it’s one of the best decisions our country has made in recent years. • Prohibit /prəˈhɪbɪt/ Verb cấm • Second-hand smoke /ˈsɛkənd hænd sməʊk/ Noun khói thuốc lá thụ động • Hazard /ˈhæzəd/ Noun mối nguy hiểm • Air quality /eə ˈkwɒləti/ Noun chất lượng không khí • Significant /sɪɡˈnɪfɪkənt/ Adjective đáng kể, quan trọng • Respiratory /rɪˈspɪrətri/ Adjective hô hấp

To be a judge, you need fairness and a solid understanding of the law. A judge must be fair and impartial, always making decisions based on facts and the law, not personal biases. They also need a strong understanding of the law to ensure they make informed and accurate rulings. Another important quality is good communication skills. A judge should be able to explain their decisions clearly so that everyone involved understands why they’ve made their ruling. This helps maintain transparency and ensures the legal process is trusted by the public. What are the necessary qualities for someone to become a lawyer? To be a successful lawyer, you need strong analytical skills and high ethical standards. A lawyer must be able to analyze complex information, spot important details, and use that insight to build a solid case. Ethics are equally important because a lawyer must always act with integrity, ensuring they represent their clients truthfully while following the law. Another crucial quality is being persuasive. A lawyer needs to convince others, whether in court or during negotiations, by presenting a compelling argument that supports their client's position. Are there any circumstances that the law should be broken? In extreme situations, the law may need to be broken, but only when it’s necessary to prevent harm. For example, breaking the law could be justified in cases of self-defense, where someone needs to protect themselves or others from immediate danger. On the other hand, laws that are unjust or violate human rights should be challenged, even if that means breaking them. It’s about ensuring justice is served in situations where the law itself may be wrong or harmful. In your opinion, should laws be strict or lenient? Why? I think laws should generally be strict, but there should be room for leniency in certain situations. Strict laws help create clear rules and ensure fairness by making sure everyone is held accountable for their actions. However, there should also be flexibility for situations where strict enforcement might not be appropriate. For instance, if someone has a valid reason for breaking the law, such as acting out of necessity or compassion, a lenient approach might be more just in those cases. Are there any laws that you think are outdated and should be changed? Why? Yes, some laws are outdated and should definitely be revised to better reflect today’s values. For example, there are laws that still discriminate against women, like those limiting equal pay or opportunities, and they need to be changed to ensure fairness. Another example is laws around technology, especially concerning privacy. In today’s digital world, many laws don’t protect individuals enough from online privacy violations, so these should be updated to reflect current realities. Social order___________________________________________________________ How do laws and regulations contribute to maintaining social order? Laws and regulations are key to maintaining social order because they set clear guidelines for how people should behave. Laws help everyone understand what is acceptable and what isn’t, which prevents chaos and confusion. Regulations also help manage more specific aspects of society, like businesses or environmental standards, ensuring that things run smoothly and safely. Without them, people might start acting in ways that disrupt society, which is why they are so important. In what ways can a breakdown in social order affect a country or community? If social order breaks down, it can lead to widespread unrest and chaos. People might stop following the law, which could lead to violent protests or even riots. It can also hurt the economy because businesses may
