Reactivating and reconfiguring the learning ropes to the most dense and rich industry within the site, Tondo’s maritime and blue economy industry, may be a key to a community’s revitalization. RATIONALE EDUCATION ECONOMY COMMUNITY RESILIENCY CONCEPT APPROACH PERMEABILITY & ACCESSIBILITY TRANSITION Since the building typology was derived from the site’s immediate AREAS surrounding, it was important to maximize the potential of the site’s immediate surrounding by making permeability and accessibility a priority as well as making transition areas like hallways, passageways, and connections, more than a means of getting from point A to point B by providing conversational and educational opportunties within these transition area. This is where majority of vehicular and pedestrian traffic as well as the noise comes from. Since the chosen site was originally part of an exisitng cargo and delivery truck parking lot, the deliberate choice to keep almost half of the existing parking was vital to the design. Because of the existing cargo and delivery truck parking, students of the proposed Maritime and Blue Economy Learning Hub can be more familiar with the ropes of that sector of the industry through its immediate environment.
