Good Manners Matter i Introduction In the life of every child, learning begins with understanding oneself, building friendships, loving one’s family, and discovering the beauty of the community. Education is not just about knowledge but about forming the heart and soul in the light of Jesus Christ. This book, Inspiring Good Manners in Everyday Life: Good Manners Matter, is a journey of faith and character, where the lessons of Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) and Christian Living Education (CLE) harmoniously guide students to become good individuals and faithful followers of Christ. At the heart of this book is Jesus, our Divine Teacher, who calls each child to love, serve, and live in truth. Every lesson in GMRC and CLE is an opportunity for students to grow in virtue and deepen their relationship with Him. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) teaches us that “education in the virtues is an essential element of the Christian life” (CCC 1803). This book aims to help students cultivate virtues that reflect the love and truth of Christ in their daily lives. Understanding Jesus Through the Lessons The structure of this book ensures that students encounter Jesus in both practical and spiritual ways. Through the GMRC lessons, they learn how to respect others, build good relationships, and serve with love, reflecting the kindness of Jesus in their everyday actions. Meanwhile, the CLE lessons allow them to explore the foundational truths of the Catholic faith, develop a spiritual life, live out moral teachings, and become active members of the Church. Quarter 1: Knowing Jesus in Our Lives • GMRC: Discovering Myself and My Friends • CLE: Foundational Topics – Understanding the Core Teachings of the Faith In this quarter, students begin by recognizing themselves as unique creations of God. Through friendship, prayer, and learning about the Holy Trinity, they come to know Jesus as a friend who loves them unconditionally. The Catechism reminds us that “the human person is created in the image and likeness of God” (CCC 1700), and understanding one’s dignity is the foundation of good relationships and moral decision-making. Quarter 2: Loving and Serving Like Jesus • GMRC: Family and Good Habits
