PART 6 READING (5 questions) Read the blog and choose the best answer for each question. (5 questions) Hi again! I had a scary idea about jobs in the future the other day. Will there be any jobs at all? It's clear that every job, including mine, will change a little, or perhaps a lot, because of new technology like robots and superfast computers. But what if machines can do all the work? In that case, there might not be any jobs for humans. But, of course, the future will not be like that. It will be bad for some people who are working in a particular field now, because technology will definitely take away jobs which people have done for ages, like plumber and mechanic, and even engineer. But new jobs will also appear, and they will be more interesting than some of the things which people have to do today. However, they will need more training. This has always been true in the past, and it will be true in the future. Long ago, most people worked on farms. Then, machines came and did a lot of the work. But people found new jobs in factories and offices, and they were better than their old jobs in many cases. Nowadays, superfast computers working together can look at tens of millions of pieces of data and find solutions to problems much faster than experts in many fields. This process will continue to improve. But the solutions come straight from the data which already exists somewhere on the internet. I believe that there will always be jobs which machines can't do at all, like writing fiction, thinking of new ideas in business, or fixing social problems between people in a community. 36. What does "they" mean in paragraph 3? A. Factories B. New jobs C. Offices D. People 39. What does the writer say about computer systems in paragraph 4? A. They don't really solve problems very well. B. They are sometimes slower than experts. C. They are not really creative. D. They will stop getting better soon. 40.
