Introduction ñysire yß; kdudj,sh 2022 Page 01 Waste management is a collective responsibility of a community, local government and other stakeholders. The proper collection, treatment and disposal will drive the entire system towards ensuring a clean and healthy environment. In the context of treatment of waste, the recycling technology gets an important role and at present this field is not formalized in a systematic way. We need to improve recycling and waste treatment system in the Western Province in view of focusing circular economy and effective material consumption. At present recycling percentage of municipal solid waste is very low due to the drawbacks in recyclable collection mechanism. However it has become a growing practice and more people have engaged in the system by understanding the value of material recovery. This sector needs proper communication platform to link each waste generator and collector. The Waste Management Authority has made an attempt to bridge each other to build an effective communication and has developed a directory named “Mihisaru Green Directory” containing the details of stakeholders who are involved in the waste recycling and treatment sector. We published our first version in 2018 and now we have nd updated the directory and prepared the 3 version as "MIHISARU GREEN DIRECTORY 2023" This directory aims to provide information of persons, institutions and companies who are engaged in waste management in the Western Province. We believe that this is the most updated version with accurate information published in this year and we present this directory with a hope that the information contained in this directory be useful to the general public as well as all stakeholders. Encouraging the adop on of these principles can significantly contribute to minimizing the environmental impact of waste and conserving resources. The regular updates to the directory demonstrate a commitment to keeping informa on current and relevant, reflec ng the dynamic nature of waste management prac ces. This ensures that the directory remains a reliable source of informa on for those seeking assistance with waste disposal issues. Overall, the "Mihisaru Green Directory" serves as an important tool for fostering collabora on and awareness within the community, ul mately contribu ng to the crea on of a greener and more sustainable Western Province. It's a commendable ini a ve that aligns with the broader global efforts to address environmental challenges through responsible waste management.
