Parts of a Plant: ▪ Roots: Roots hold the plant in the soil and take in water and nutrients. ▪ Stem: The stem supports the plant and carries water and nutrients to different parts. ▪ Leaves: Leaves make food for the plant using sunlight, air, and water. ▪ Flowers: Flowers help the plant to make seeds. ▪ Fruits: Fruits protect the seeds inside them. ▪ Seeds: Seeds grow into new plants. Types of Plants: Trees: Big plants with a thick, strong stem called a trunk. Example: Mango tree. Shrubs: Smaller plants with many woody stems. Example: Rose bush. Herbs: Small plants with soft stems. Example: Mint. Climbers: Plants that need support to grow upwards. Example: Grapevine. Creepers: Plants that grow along the ground. Example: Pumpkin. Why Are Plants Important? ▪ Provide Oxygen: Plants give us oxygen to breathe. ▪ Food: Many plants give us fruits, vegetables, and grains. ▪ Shelter: Trees provide shelter for many animals and birds. ▪ Medicine: Some plants are used to make medicines. ▪ Beauty: Plants make our surroundings beautiful. How to Take Care of Plants: ▪ Water them regularly. ▪ Make sure they get enough sunlight. ▪ Keep the soil healthy by adding compost. ▪ Protect them from pests. Important- Sugar is produced from the sugar cane stem.
