DDear applicant and future leader, By reading this application guide, you have taken another step towards a life of impact. As you probably know by now, ALU’s mission is to create 3 million ethical entrepreneurial leaders by 2035. This is not an easy task, and similarly, our application process will challenge you. This application guide has been designed to help you understand not only the general application process but also shed light on the different application sections, decisions outcomes and financial aid. We hope that by familiarizing yourself with this guide, many of the doubts you might have will be answered. Good luck with your application, cannot wait to get to know you! 2 General Application Information Minimum Entry Requirements for Admissions In line with the Admission policy that applies for both our campuses, ALU has the following minimum entry requirements which all applicants are required to meet to be considered for admission: Minimum Entry Requirements Having taken a minimum of 3 A-Level subjects or equivalent with a principle pass, with a C average or better on the 3 courses selected. The average is derived from at least one ‘core’ course, listed below Evidence of having attained sufficient English language proficiency (B2 level - see page 4 for a list of accepted tests) Program Specific Requirements for the Bachelor of Software Engineering (BSE) To have an A Level (or equivalent) in Mathematics or Computer Science or a related scientific or technical subject (such as Physics or Engineering) with a minimum C grade. In the absence of the required grades in Mathematics or Computer Science, an A Level (or equivalent) in a related scientific or technical subject (such as Physics, Engineering etc.) with a minimum B grade shall be considered. If you want to enrol on to the Software Engineering programme you will be asked to meet additional requirements such as taking and passing a test. 1 2 4 Completion of a final national secondary school exam and graduation from secondary school with a certificate of secondary education on an A-level equivalent. Core courses: Math, Integrated Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Sociology, Economics, Geography, English, Literature, Entrepreneurship An Equivalence Certificate is required from all applicants whose final/national examination results have not been issued by Rwanda's National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) 4 3 Program Specific Requirements for the Bachelor of International Business and Trade (IBT) C and above at Mathematics in A-level or O-level
