Với dạng đoạn văn  Thường dạng đoạn văn sẽ có cấu trúc 1 câu chủ đề, 2 - 3 câu bổ trợ cho ý chính, 1 câu kết luận. + Câu chủ đề: nói lên ý chính của đoạn văn + Các câu bổ trợ: thường được bắt đầu bởi những liên từ, từ nối (bảng dưới) + Câu kết luận: tóm tắt lại các ý vừa được nhắc đến trong đoạn. Tuy nhiên, một số đoạn không có hoặc câu chủ đề hoặc câu kết.  Nếu đoạn văn là câu chuyện thì hãy để ý đến trình tự thời gian.
