UNIT 3: SPOTS AND STRIPES I. Procedures Stages Teacher’s activity Student’s activity Purpose Note Warm up - Check homework - Free talk: Ask S some questions about clothes (Encourage S to put color in) - Introduce the topic - Ask S to guess what spots and stripes are Interact with T Answer T’ questions Guess the meaning Help the student to brainstorm about the topic Pre-teaching Vocabulary - Teach S new words - Let S listen to the audio first - Ask S to repeat each word few times - Help S to confirm the meaning - Check S: Slide 4 + Show S one by one picture + Ask S to say aloud the word Follow T Listen to audio Repeat Write new words in notebook if needed Say out loud Provide new knowledge which is included in the lesson for the student
+ Help S if needed Grammar: Preposition of place - Open slide 5 - Teach S all the preposition - Ask S to repeat few time for each - Ask S to guess the meaning of them - Help S to confirm and explain if needed (above >< on, below >< under,..) - T prepares some items to let S practice by structure: The …. + be + preposition + …. - For example, T put the pen on the book and ask S “Where is the pen?”, S has to say “The pen is on the book.” - One more way to practice, ask S where he/ she is now/ which room she/ he is - Then ask S random thing in the room to require S describe the place + Is there any chair? Where is the chair? + …… Structure: - The … + be + preposition + …. - There is/ are + ….with ….on it Listen to T Take note Practice Take note While- teaching Task A. Look and read. Write yes or no - Open slide 6 - Tell S look at the picture and answer questions (detailed in the teaching material) - Open slide 7 - Ask S to look at picture, read the statement then decide it true (write Yes) or false (write No) - Do example for S to understand - Help S underline key words in each statement Look at picture Answer T’s questions Follow T Underline key words - Practice the knowledge they have learnt in “presentation” stage - Interact in English with the T to improve reflection
- Explain new words if needed - Give S time to do - Check Activity: Correct the incorrect sentences - Explain the requirement for S - Let S read the example and point out what the incorrect is - Tell S do the same with others - Check Task B. Look at the picture in A. Listen and color - Tell S listen to color the picture - Let S listen to the example first - Give S the note before listening (detailed in the teaching material) - Play the recording (2 times if needed) - Check Activity: Complete the sentences about the picture - Let S look at the picture again then complete the sentences - Give S time to do - Check grammar, spelling (one sentence can have more than one answer Task C. Talk about the flags in the 1 st picture. - Slide 12 - Ask S the question (in the teaching material) - Slide 13 - Ask S to point out what on different flags are (in teaching material) - Require S describe the flags in structure: Look, read and write Listen to T Read example Read and correct Listen Look at the note Listen and color Look and write Answer questions Point out the differences by circle T should instruct S to use the Annotate on S’s computer (it’s on of Zoom’s tool) to choose color and do the task while listen)

Complete the sentences about the 2 nd picture - Tell S look at picture and fill in the blanks with 1 or 2 words - Help S to understand through example (detailed in teaching material) - Give S time - Check Task E. What differences can you see? - Show S 2 pictures and tell S that they have a lot of differences between them - Set one picture is A and another is B (or just use first picture and second picture is also fine) - Teach S structure to compare 2 pictures “In the picture A/ the first picture….., but in the picture B/ the second one/ the second picture….” - Suggest S to use some structures to describe items/ people in the picture: + tobe + V_ing: in talking about what people are doing + There is + N/ There are + Ns + preposition: on, in,… + It’s + weather + ….. - Show S the example (T can also use slide 17 to give Talk Practice describing Look and write 1 – 2 words Follow T
