A: OK, that's fine. You can enrol here with me, and then go to my colleague at the next desk for fee payment. So, first of all can I have your name? S: Yes, it's Peter Taylor. That's Taylor with a Y. A: So, it's T-A-Y-L-O-R. S: That's right. Do you need my middle name? A: No, just your first and last names are fine, thanks. And what course are you doing? S: I'm taking a BSc in Economics. A: OK, that's in the Faculty of Mathematics. S: Oh! I thought it was in the Faculty of Business and Management. A: It was last year, but the course has moved to the Mathematics faculty this year.
2 S: Oh, thanks for letting me know. A: No problem. Now where are you going to be living - on campus in halls, or in private accommodation? S: University accommodation. I'm in room 112 Ashley Residence. A: Did you say Ashley Residence, the one in Duke Street? It's just that there's another residence called Askey Residence, so it's confusing sometimes. I don't want to make a mistake on the computer records, otherwise you won't receive any university mail. S: It's definitely Ashley: -A-S-H-L-E-Y. A: Great. And what about your home address- on our records it says 56 Grove Street. Manchester. M1 9JA. Is that correct? S: Actually, there's a small mistake, it's M4 not M1. The rest is correct. 9JA. A: OK, I think that's all. You're enrolled on your course so you can go and pay your fees now. S: Thanks. Bye. Part 2. I can take my dog for walks. You can't take your hedgehog for walks. Brian: Aha very funny. If I told you he was good company, you probably wouldn't believe me. Denise: Hmm. Brian: For example, I was in the garden the other evening, and he came out of the bushes and sat on the grass beside me. Denise: He was probably hoping you'd give him some food. Brian: No, he catches his own food. Worms and things from the garden. Do I sometimes give him dog food and

There are many different services, and most of the student groups and organizations meet at this facility. As a student at the university, you have full access to all that we offer. I guess I will talk about the dining facilities first. We have eight venues from which students can choose to have their meals. Two of these are franchise outlets that offer normal fast food fare, such as fish and chips, hamburgers and soda. One dining area has a do-it-yourself system. Specializing in food for the vegetarian and vegan members of the campus community, there is a wide selection of vegetables, fruits and grains. At the end of the buffet are several cooking stations available for students to create their own meals. The Student Union has a wide variety of entertainment options as well. Those over the minimum age can drink at one of the three bars. During the school year, they regularly offer live music, musical groups from both the local scene and occasionally even very famous people have performed there. All the bars serve domestic and imported beers, wine and hard liquor. A cinema theater with 750 seats is available for screening films. The movie appreciation group also screens many types of films, even foreign and classic movies. Also, the theater is where guest speakers hold lectures. These speakers are sometimes professors from other universities. SECTION B: PHONETICS Question I. Choose the word whose underlined part is pronounced differently from that of the others in the same line and write A, B, C or D on your answer sheet.
