INTRODUCTION Accounting is the science of recording and classifying business transactions in a systematic manner. In its preliminary stage we call it Bookkeeping. But the difference between Accounting and Bookkeeping is not clear. So to avoid confusion its better to use the single word ‘Accounting’ for all its stages. #
DEFINITION OF ACCOUNTING Accounting is a process of recording transactions and summarizing them into financial statements in order for the users of this financial information to make informed financial decisions. Accounting is the art of making financial transactions and involves significant summaries, analysis and interpretations of those transactions and event. It shows profit and loss for a given period, and the value and the nature of a company’s assets, liabilities and owner’s capital. It is an art of interpreting the results of the financial transactions and communicating the results to stakeholders enabling them to make informed decisions.
