A “gang” means a combination of two or more persons, whether formally or informally organized, that, through its membership or through an agent, engages in any gang related activity Gang related activities are criminal activities related to offenses such as kidnapping, firearms, drugs, sexual offenses etc. According to Klein, Weerman, and Thornberry (2006) a Gang, is defined as “any durable, street oriented youth group whose involvement in illegal activity is part of their group identity.” Objective I: Differentiate a gang from other social groups Prepared by: Police Academy Staff #
