3 CSU CARIG INTRAMURALS 20 23 RAFAEL FUNTANAR, JR Apolaki claims throne, COEA deprives CICS of 3-peat in PUBG Apolaki’s College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) wiped out two-time defending champion College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) Amihan, 105-49, in Player’s Unknown Battleground (PUBG) Mobile during the first day of Campus Intramurals at the Cagayan State University Carig (CSUC) Library on November 14. COEA’s John Ashley Domingo, Jymm Boy Doniego, Henry Agcaoili, Russel Managuelod, and John Christopher Coloma as sub- players, Computer Engineering students, secured their victory against the two-time defending champion. With his 4-5 years of experience as an artist, Bautista was able to breathe life into the portrait of CSUC Campus Executive Officer Arthur G. Ibañez together with University President (FROM PAGE 1) Urdujah G. Alvarado using a charcoal pencil. His meticulous attention to the proportions, features, and composition of the subjects in the initial stages set him apart from the competition, despite the challenges he faced before the competition. “Before the competition is sobrang dami naming plates na kinailangang maipasa so hindi ako nagkaroon ng time para makapag-practice talaga pero I ensured na a day before the competition is magkaroon ako ng sapat na tulog so I can have a clear mind and siguro naging practice na rin kahit papaano mga renderings na ginawa namin sa plates,” Bautista said. [“Before the competition, there were many plates that I had to pass, which prevented me from practicing in my competition event, but I made sure to get a good night’s sleep before the competition so that I could keep a clear mind. And then I realized that the renderings on my plates somehow became my training.”] The winners of the Visual Arts Competition are expected to participate in the upcoming University Intramurals to be held this December. CNSM captures gold in photo contest With his experience as a freelance photographer, Cristian Soverano of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) took the winning shot that secured the judges’ votes with a score of 94.67 in the Cagayan State University - Carig (CSUC) Photo Contest on November 15. Using the ongoing game of sepak takraw as the contest theme, Soverano captured player Ejhay Dela Cruz during his attack, which led to his victory. “Tutal sepak ‘yon, siyempre mas maganda ‘yong capture ‘pag mga lumilipad,” Soverano discussed regarding his technique. With no prior preparation for the contest, taking a low angle shot while the subject is in mid-air by using the right equipment was one of the strategies he employed that put him over the top. Despite his lack of experience in photo competitions, Soverano relied on his professional experience. “I don’t have experience in photojournalism, in- apply ko lang dito ‘yong experience ko sa trabaho. I’m a professional photographer, videographer, and aerial photo and [videographer],” Soverano noted. Behind Soverano’s feat was Al Policar Rivera of the College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) with a score of 94.67, while Avon Mae Castro of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHaSS) came in second with a score of 88.67.
