AREA II TEACHING, LEARNING AND EVALUATION Parameter A. Setting and Achieving Program Standards A.1 Flow Chart on the Approval of Curricular Programs (Present the flow chart of the application on the approval of programs) Bukidnon State University implements a continual decision-making process regarding what to learn, why, and how to organize the teaching and learning process as part of Curriculum Design and Development. This process takes into account existing curriculum requirements and available resources, aligning with policies, standards, and guidelines (PSGs) set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and other regulatory bodies. Figure 1. BukSU Program Approval Process
The curriculum proposal process outlined above reflects a structured and collaborative approach to developing educational programs within an academic institution. Each phase of the process involves specific tasks, designated personnel, and essential documentation, ensuring thorough oversight and adherence to institutional and regulatory standards. 1. Program Proposal Writing At the outset of the process, the Chairperson and Program Coordinators take on the vital task of crafting a comprehensive program proposal. This initial phase is crucial, as it lays the foundation for the entire curriculum development effort. The proposal must include several key components: • Rationale: Explaining the need for the program. • Feasibility Study: Assessing potential challenges and opportunities. • Program Outcomes: Defining what students are expected to achieve. • Program Curriculum: Outlining the courses and content. • Curriculum Map: Visualizing how courses align with program outcomes. The proposal prospectus and curriculum maps, serve as critical artifacts that guide subsequent discussion and decisions. 2. Proposal Presentation Once the proposal is drafted, it moves to the presentation stage, where the Chairperson, Program Coordinator, and Dean collectively present their work to the University Curriculum Committee. This committee operates at various levels, departmental and colleges- ensuring that multiple perspectives are considered. During this stage, meetings are documented through a Notice of /meeting and Minutes of the Meeting, capturing discussions, feedback, and any suggested revisions. This documentation not only provides transparency but also serves as a historical record of the proposal’s evolution.
