WEEK 32 Preparing date: April 20 th , 2024 PERIOD 125 Teaching date: April 22 nd , 2024 UNIT 19: PLACES OF INTEREST LESSON 1 (4, 5, 6) I. OBJECTIVES By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: 1. Knowledge and skills - Listen to and understand four communicative contexts in which speakers ask and answer questions about their opinion of a place, and then circle the correct words. - Complete four gapped exchanges with the help of picture cues. - Sing the song What do you think of …? with correct pronunciation, rhythm and melody. 2. Competences - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks. - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening and reading tasks. 3. Attributes - Develop a willingness to learn about new cultures and perspectives, challenging their own biases and assumptions. - Gain appreciation for the diversity of human experiences and the value of preserving historical and cultural landmarks. 4. PROCEDURES Teacher’s activities Student’s activities 1. Warm up (5’) a. Objectives - To revise the name of places. b. Content - Game: “Guessing game” c. Expected outcomes - Pupils can correctly say the names of the school rooms: computer room, music room, art room, library. d. Organisation - Ask pupils to look at the board while showing some parts of the pictures. - Ask pupils at “Stop” when they think they can guess the name of the place. - Look at parts of the pictures that are opened - Say “STOP” and say the name of the room

Organisation Step 1: Draw pupils’ attention to the pictures to identify the names of the places. Have them point at the words and say them aloud. Then ask them to guess the words (a or b) showing the speakers’ opinion of the places. Step 2: Play the recording all the way through for pupils just to listen. Then play it again for pupils to listen and circle the correct words. Step 3: Get pupils to swap books with a partner to check their answers before checking as a class. Correct the answers where necessary. Extension: Have pupils write four sentences to show their opinion about - Continue playing the game. - Pupils look at the pictures.
