ASHIANA HOUSING LIMITED METHOD STATEMENT FOR “EXPANSION JOINT TREATMENT” Procedure For casting RCC member at Expansion Joint A. Column 1. First cast column A using all four-side shuttering set of given column size (e.g., axb mm size). 2. After de-shuttering of column A fix Shalitex board of as required thickness T-mm at between surface of column A and column B, in full width of column A and height as per casted column A. 3. After fixing of Shalitex board fix 3 side Shuttering of Column B (as shown in figure) with overlap of minimum 100mm on concrete surface of column A. 4. Cast the Column B as per standard procedure. B. Beam and Slab 1. First cast beam (e.g., axb mm size) and slab A as per standard procedure. 2. After de-shuttering of beam and slab A fix Shalitex board of as required thickness T-mm at between surface of beam A and beam B, in full depth of beam A and length as per casted beam A. 3. After fixing of Shalitex board fix shuttering for Beam B with beam bottom min 100mm overlap on concrete surface of beam A. 4. Cast the Beam and Slab B as per standard procedure. Expansion Joint At Column
Expansion Joint At Beam Procedure For Expansion Joint Treatment at Terrace Level 1. After the casting of terrace slab, expansion joint should be covered. 2. Expansion joint shall be cleaned first between two casted surfaces. 3. As per drawing shown below, both sides RCC wall of 150mm thick and M25 concrete grade is to be done. Then a small slab is to be cast over the RCC wall so that no water seeps through it, as shown in figure below. 4. Top of slab shall remain in slope of 10mm. 5. Shalitex board of 25mm thickness is to be fixed between the slabs before casting the small slab, as shown in figure.
Procedure For Expansion Joint Treatment at Wall Elevation 1. In the elevation of expansion joint, one coat of primer is to be applied on plastered surface before fixing the Aluminum sheet. 2. Aluminum sheet of 16 gauge is to be fixed to cover the joint. One side of the sheet is fixed with SS screw in circular holes and the other end is fixed by SS screws in slotted holes. Size of SS screws used is 50X10. 3. Fixing of screws shall not be done using hammer. 4. Circular holes shall be of 6mm dia and slotted hole shall be of 40X6mm. All holes/slots shall be machine cut. 5. On vertical faces, overlapping of Aluminum sheet shall be 50 mm (wherever required). Top sheet shall be above the bottom sheet, so that no water seeps inside. Precaution 1. The expansion joint is clean between two surfaces. 2. There should not be any undulation in Al sheet. 3. There should not be any hammer marks on sheet.
4. All holes/slots shall be machine cut only.
