Assam History  The History of Assam can be divided into 4 eras. অসমৰ ইিতহাসক ৪ টা যুগত িবভ কিৰব পািৰ। 1. The Ancient era 4th to 12th century II. The Medieval era → 12th CE (1206 ) - 1826 III. The colonial era 1826-1947 IV.  The Post-Colonial Era -After 1947 পৰৱতƳী-িŅিটছ যুগ – ১৯৪৭ চনৰ িপছত  The ancient name of Assam - Pragjyotishpur. অসমৰ পুৰিণ নাম - Ĵাগেজািতষপুৰ।  Prag means East direction and Jyotish means stars or Astrology. Ĵাগ মােন পূৱ িদশ আƩ Ʊজািতষ মােন ন¢ø বা Ʊজািতষ িবদা।  Assam was called as 'City of Eastern Astrology'. অসমক পূবƳৰ Ʊজািতষ চচƳাৰ নগৰ 'City of Eastern Astrology' বুিল Ʊকাৱা হয়।  The name of Assam is mentioned as Pragjyotishpur in the epic Ramayana and the Mahabharata. মহাকাব ৰামায়ণ আƩ মহাভাৰতত অসমৰ নাম Ĵাগেজািতষপুৰ বুিল উেŬখ আেছ।  In Kalika Puran and Yogini Tantra, the name of Assam was mentioned as Kamrupa. কািলকা পুৰাণ আƩ Ʊযািগনী তĞত অসমৰ নাম কামƪপ বুিল উেŬখ কৰা Ʋহেছ ।  The tantric text 'Yogini Tantra' is dedicated to the worship of two goddesses, Kali and Kamakhya. তািĞক 2Ġ 'Ʊযািগনী তĞ'ত কািল আƩ কামাখা নামৰ দুগৰাকী Ʊদৱীৰ িবষেয় উেŬখ আেছ।  Ahom gave the name - Assam. আেহােম নাম িদেল – অসম।  In Yogini Tantra Kamrupa was divided into four parts - 1. Ratnapith (Karatoya River to Sankosh River) 2. Kampith (Sankosh River to Rupohi River) 3. Swarnapith (Rupohi River to Bharali River) 4.
