Student work at home: • Complete English homework booklet – Paper No: 2019b • Textbook ‘Spelling & Vocabulary Level 1’ – pages 7 – 8 (classwork) & page 9 (homework) • Read every night – complete reading record sheet. • Continue your personal vocabulary list – use a dictionary to look up unfamiliar words from the homework booklets and your personal reading. Record the definitions in your English notebook.

VC/CV words are two-syllable words that follow this specific pattern: Vowel-Consonant/Consonant-Vowel. They include two closed syllables and will be broken between the two consonants. There’s a rule for doubling letters. We usually double a consonant when it follows a single vowel, and we add an ending that starts with a vowel.
