© DylanOFM - OFM Alchemy Systems do NOT signify ‘results’. They signify FUNCTION (distinct from intention). Almost everyone in the online marketing space misunderstands systems. Systems always deliver the result they are designed to. If the output isn't what you anticipated, this does NOT indicate the system is ‘broken’ or ‘not functioning’. Do not confuse personal intention with function. – Random Example Intention: Making ‘Good’ Chocolate Cake System Function: Making ‘Bad’ Chocolate Cake Inputs: ingredients (cocoa powder, NO sugar, olive oil, flour, expired eggs, etc) Processes: recipe instructions, e.g. step 1: sift flour, step 2: preheat OVEN to 300°C, etc Outputs: a hopefully delicious chocolate cake Feedback: too bitter? Undercooked? Perfect? Environment: kitchen & tools used (rusty whisk = bad texture) © Melosson LTD - All rights reserved. © DylanOFM - OFM Alchemy Inputs Inputs are what is introduced, absorbed by, or processed within a system. They are the ‘raw materials’. Inputs significantly influence the function and output of a system. The crucial lesson with inputs is: Garbage in = Garbage out You can have the most effective processes and stimuli for client acquisition in your niche, but if the system's input is poor, the output will be poor. Examples: ● Mary Berry bakes a cake but uses expired ingredients.* ● The top copywriter in the world creates a cold email campaign but uses overused leads. ● The best salesperson in the world gets on a call, but there is no decision-maker present.** *All great chefs attribute their success to the quality of ingredients, the input of the culinary system. **While lead quality is important in sales, it's often overstated. Inability to overcome objections doesn't make the call unqualified; it indicates a need for improvement in sales skills. You must see prospects as they are, not as you wish them to be. Expecting 'perfect' prospects is futile. Outputs Outputs are the results produced by a system. Examples: ● A perfect 10/10 cake or a complete 1/10 disaster. ● Clients, appointments, positive replies, subscribers, etc. Feedback A functioning, healthy system incorporates feedback loops. This is where outputs provide feedback that directly influences inputs and processes. In client acquisition systems, feedback is provided through metrics that generate conversion rates. We use these metrics to understand the system and make iterations and adjustments to inputs and processes to enhance the system. Examples: © Melosson LTD - All rights reserved.
