Good and Graceful Manners 1
Good and Graceful Manners i Introduction The true measure of education is not only found in academic knowledge but in the formation of character and faith. This book, Inspiring Good Manners in Everyday Life: Good and Graceful Manners, is designed to shape the hearts and minds of Grade 3 students by harmonizing Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) with Christian Living Education (CLE). Through these lessons, children will grow in moral virtue while deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ, who is the model of perfect goodness and grace. At the heart of this book is Jesus, our Teacher and Friend, who calls each child to live with love, wisdom, and kindness. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) teaches us that “Christian education... is intended to make men and women capable of living as children of God” (CCC 1653). Every topic in this book guides students in developing good character, understanding their responsibilities, and strengthening their faith in Christ. Encountering Jesus Through the Lessons This book harmonizes GMRC and CLE in a Christ-centered approach, allowing students to grow in virtue while deepening their spiritual lives. The GMRC lessons help children develop moral strength and social responsibility, while CLE lessons lead them to a more profound understanding of their faith. Quarter 1: Discovering Strengths and Responsibilities in Christ • GMRC: Understanding Personal Strengths and Responsibilities • CLE: Foundational Topics – Learning the Core Teachings of the Faith In this quarter, students recognize their unique strengths and understand their responsibilities as individuals and members of a family. They learn that their gifts and talents are given by God for a greater purpose. The Catechism reminds us that “the dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God” (CCC 1700). By knowing themselves, students are drawn closer to Christ, who calls them to use their gifts for good. Quarter 2: Growing in Love and Faith through Family and Prayer • GMRC: Family Influence on Good Conduct and Habits • CLE: Spiritual Life – Deepening One’s Relationship with God through Prayer and Sacraments
