In conclusion, while the idea of enhancing towns and cities with more art installations might seem appealing at first glance, it may not be the most prudent way for governments to allocate limited resources. 2. Some people think that vertical cities are the best, where people live and work in tall buildings. Others think that horizontal cities are better, where there are few tall buildings. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Sample: Some people believe that living in a horizontal city is the best, while opponents of this idea prefer to settle in a vertical city. While there are benefits to residents who dwell in a city that consists of low-rise construction, I would argue that cities with skyscrapers and high-rise buildings offer more advantages. On the one hand, it is beneficial for residents to live in a horizontal city based on a few financial and security reasons. Firstly, people have to pay less for building services. If residents settle in a private house, they may save a great deal of money since they won’t have to pay for building services. Secondly, living lower to the ground is safer for inhabitants when emergencies occur. For example, if a fire starts in the home, they can quickly escape from the dangerous areas because the building is not too high off the ground and it won’t take much time to leave. On the other hand, it seems to me that living in a vertical city is the best choice. A city with skyscrapers will have more space for public usage because there will be less land used for residential areas due to the number of people who can live in high buildings. As a result, the government would be able to use this land to build hospitals, schools or places for entertainment. Furthermore, it is much more convenient for residents to live in an apartment in a tall building that offers a wide range of goods and services, thanks to shopping malls and service centres on lower floors. In conclusion, while living in a horizontal city does have some benefits, it seems to me that the advantages of living in a city with skyscrapers makes living in a vertical city the better choice. 3. Sample: Some people argue that nowadays pupils have easy access to a vast amount of information, so libraries should be deemed unnecessary. I disagree with this perspective because libraries serve as excellent places for studying, although the advantages of the internet for quickly obtaining data should not be overlooked. There is some truth in the argument that in the digital era, students can access academic information quickly and easily. To be clear, almost everyone has their own mobile phone or tablet, allowing them to search for and find information conveniently from anywhere. Additionally, there is a considerable volume of information available, ranging from books and magazines to newspapers and videos, that helps individuals become more knowledgeable about specific topics or courses for free. For example, websites like Libgen allow students and researchers to access various academic papers without having to pay. Thus, the internet plays a significant role in studying, not only by providing easy and quick access to information but also by being much more affordable. However, I believe that libraries remain important for many reasons. Firstly, they house valuable original references that cannot be found online. For instance, some researchers prefer to publish their books in print rather than electronically for financial reasons, and university libraries purchase these books for students and researchers. Moreover, libraries are excellent places for concentration and studying. One of the best features of any university is its library, as it provides an environment where students can study and research together, encouraging and motivating each other. Therefore, libraries are still crucial, not only because they offer a quiet place for study but also due to their unique resources. To sum up, while it is partly true that accessing online resources is easier and free, I would argue that libraries play a significant role by providing a conducive study environment and access to specific data. 4. It is the responsibility of schools to teach children good behavior in addition to providing formal education. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Sample: Educational institutions are often seen as having the dual responsibility of providing both academic instruction and fostering good behavior. While this perspective holds some merit, I contend that families and broader societal influences play a more significant role in shaping a child's moral development. On the one hand, schools undeniably serve as important venues for teaching appropriate behavior. In these environments, students engage in various social interactions, such as working on group projects or resolving conflicts peacefully, which can indirectly teach them valuable social skills. Moreover, in countries like Vietnam, many schools incorporate subjects such as civic education into their curriculum, actively promoting moral values. However, it is worth noting that if schools were solely tasked with this responsibility, the result could be a somewhat standardized approach to behavior, as they typically enforce a set of universal rules. Additionally, placing too much emphasis on moral instruction might detract from the primary goal of academic learning, potentially impacting students' academic achievements. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that the family and society play an even more critical role in shaping a child's conduct. The key point here is that a child's home environment serves as their first and most influential school, where fundamental values are passed down. For example, in Vietnamese culture, children are often taught from an early age to respect their elders, a deeply ingrained cultural norm. Beyond the family, society offers constant reinforcement of these values. Community events, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, provide real-world experiences that teach children the importance of sharing and community spirit. These societal interactions offer a more practical and nuanced understanding of moral behavior compared to the theoretical lessons typically taught in schools. In conclusion, while schools undoubtedly contribute to a child's moral education, I believe that the primary responsibility for cultivating good behavior lies with families and society. Acknowledging this allows for a more balanced approach to developing future generations, blending formal education with the vital moral guidance provided by a child's immediate environment and community.
