best answer to each of the questions. The invention of dishwasher When we think of inventors, we usually think of men such as Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, or the Wright Brothers. However, many things that make our lives easier were created by women. One of these is the dishwasher which was invented in 1887. Josephine Cochran, whose grandfather was also an inventor, is known as the mother of this invention. She was a rich American woman who held a lot of dinner parties. However, she was rather annoyed that her servants kept breaking plates and glasses while washing them after parties. She chose to do the dishes herself, but she also broke several expensive plates. As a result, Josephine decided to try to invent a machine that could wash a lot of plates and glasses. She hoped that this machine could do the job more quickly and safely. She was successful in designing the one she wanted and then set up a company to produce it. In the beginning, only hotels and restaurants bought this kind of machine, but today the dishwashers have appeared in many houses all over the world. The modern dishwashers are different from the past ones and certainly more effective and more technologically developed. They can be connected via Wi-Fi connection or Bluetooth, so people can control how they work from a different place by just saying some functional words such as "dry" or "rinse". The benefits of dishwashers are clear: people can relax more or have time doing other things because they do not have to spend much time standing and washing a pile of plates and bowls in the sinks. They only have to put them onto the tracks, press some buttons or say some words and enjoy the convenience of this invention. 36. Who created the first dishwasher? A. Thomas Edison B. Wright Brothers C. Alexander Graham Bell D. Josephine Cochran 37. Why was the dishwasher invented? A. to help Josephine hold more parties B. to let Josephine's servants have less work C. to do the dishes without breaking any plates D. to help people do other tasks 38. Where can dishwashers be seen today? A. only in hotels and restaurants B. in America C. in rich families D. throughout the globe 39. How different are modern dishwashers compared to the old ones? A. very similar B. not so different
