PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm- up and review: (4’) Play a game: Pass the card *Aims: to revise the learnt lesson. *Procedure: - Prepare some cards (Snow White, the seven dwarfs, the ant, the grasshopper, the tortoise, the hare, the fox, the crow). - Divide the class into two groups. - Have ss from each group stand in a line. - Give the first student of each group a card and say “Go.” - The ss say the given words and pass the cards over their heads to the ones behind them. - Have groups continue the game until their card reaches the last person. - The last student in each line races to hand their card to the teacher and says the word. - Give the first group to name their card correctly one point. - The group that gets more points wins. - Say “Open your book page 47” and look at “Unit 17, Lesson 1 (4,5,6)”. 2. Practice: (27’) Activity 1. Listen and circle: *Aims: Ss will be able to listen to and understand three statements about the main characters in stories and circle the correct answers to complete the sentences *Procedure: - Have ss read the questions and elicit the characters in the pictures - T ask Ss to guess the answers. + T writes Ss’guessing on the board. - Listen to the tape: + Play the recording + Play the recording again and get Ss to swap books with their partners. + Play the recording again to check answers together as a class. + Write the answers on the board for Ss to correct their answers. Then checks Ss’ guessing. - Play the recording, sentence by sentence, for the class to listen and repeat in chorus. Key: 1. b; 2. a; 3. a Activity 2. Read and complete *Aims: Ss will be able to complete four gapped exchanges with the help of picture cues. *Procedure: - Ask Ss to look at the pictures and identify the name of a character. - Have Ss look at the 4 incomplete exchanges and elicits the missing words in the sentences. - T models with the first sentence + Ask Ss what is missing in the sentence (Snow White). + Have Ss look at the picture and identify the needed information (They’re Snow White and the seven dwarfs) - Have Ss work in pairs and complete - Get Ss to swap books with a partner and check their answers before checking as a class. Let’s play. *Aims: Ss will be able to review the target vocabulary and structure related to the topic “Stories for children” by playing the game Who am I? *Procedure: - Divide the class into 8 or 10 groups. Each group pretends to be one character and prepares one or two sentences about the character. - Each group reads the sentence aloud and the other groups guess what character it is. The groups raise their hands to get a turn to answer. The group with the correct answer gets one point. - After 4 minutes, the group with the most points is the winner. - Get ss to play the game in pairs. 3. Fun corner and wrap- up (4’) Game: Pictionary - Invite a student to come to the front of the class and whisper the name of a character he/she has to draw. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm- up and review: (3’) Game: Musical cards *Aims: to revise the previous lesson *Procedure: - Bring a selection of pictures relating to the main characters to the class (Snow White, the seven dwarfs, the ant, the grasshopper, the tortoise, the hare, the fox, the crow). - Play some lively music and ask ss to pass them around to each other while the music is playing. - Stop the music suddenly and sls should stop passing the cards. Ask them to look at the card nearest them and say what it is. - Play the music and continue in the same way. - Say “Open your book page 48” and look at “Unit 17, Lesson 2 (1,2,3)”. 2. Presentation (15’) Activity 1. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm- up and review: (4’) Play a game: Flash card walk *Aims: to revise the learnt structure *Procedure: - Place several flash cards (cook well, word hard, run fast, sing beautifully, …) on the classroom floor. - Divide the class into two groups. - Have ss from each group come up the front. - Play some music and have the ss walk around the flash cards. - Stop the music and say the name of one flash card. - Have the ss pick up the correct flash card and make a question for another pupil to answer. - Give the first group to make a correct sentence at one point. - The group with more points wins the game. - Say “Open your book page 49” and look at “Unit 17, Lesson 2 (4,5,6)”. 2. Listen and repeat: *Aims: Ss will be able to correctly repeat two Yes / No questions with the rising intonation *Procedure: - Have ss look at the questions and draw their attention to the arrow (↗) at the end of the questions. Explain that the questions with this arrow (↗) should be said with a rising tune. - Play the recording for ss to listen and repeat the questions until they feel confident. - Let ss work in pairs or groups to practise saying the questions. - Invite a few ss to say the language in front of the class. 3.Practice: (17’) Activity 2. Listen and repeat. Pay attention to the intonation. *Aims: Ss will be able to listen and say four Yes / No questions with rising intonation *Procedure: - Elicit from ss that 1–4 are all Yes / No questions and elicit that they learned in the last exercise that Yes / No questions need a rising tone at the end. - Play the recording for ss to listen. - Play it again, sentence by sentence, for ss to listen and repeat in chorus and individually, until they feel confident. - Have ss practise reading the questions in pairs or groups. - Invite a few ss to read aloud the questions in front of the class Activity 3. Fun corner and wrap- up (4’) Game: Slap the board - Stick the flashcards on the board (Snow White, seven dwarfs, the ant, the grasshopper, the tortoise, the hare, the fox, the crow). - Divide the class into three or four teams. Tell ss how the game is played. - Ask ss to listen to the word, then each student from teams runs to the board and slaps the flash card as correctly and quickly as possible. - The first student who slaps the correct flash card gets one point for their team and continues playing the game. - The student who gets the highest points will be the winner.
