Basic Structure of Vehicle Confidential: For Dealer Use Only Basic components In this chapter, let's learn the outline of the basic functions of various component devices of a vehicle. Vehicle runs by the power of engine. What kinds of transmission devices transmit the power generated by engine to tires? Does a drive system make any difference? Let's understand the structure referring to the following two examples.
Basic Structure of Vehicle Confidential: For Dealer Use Only Basic components ◆Example of FR vehicles FR vehicles... "FR" stands for Front engine, Rear drive, in this automobile structure engine is placed at the front of the body and is driven by rear tires. The power generated by the engine of FR vehicle is first transmitted to the transmission. Transmission uses its gears to change the strength and direction of the power according to the speed and running conditions of the vehicle, and transmits the power to the propeller shaft. A propeller shaft transmits its power to a differential, which changes the rotation direction of the power to rotate the drive shaft and tires.
Basic Structure of Vehicle Confidential: For Dealer Use Only Basic components ◆Example of FF vehicle FF vehicle... "FF" stands for Front engine, Front drive, in this automobile structure engine is placed at the front of the body and is driven by front tires. FF vehicle's front tires are drive wheels, and the power generated by engine is transmitted from the transaxle (corresponding to the transmission and the differential of FR vehicles) directly to the drive shaft to rotate tires.
