ASHIANA HOUSING LIMITED METHOD STATEMENT FOR EXTERNAL PLASTER WORK INTRODUCTION / SCOPE This method statement covers the requirements, equipments and procedures to be used for External Plaster work. OBJECT / PARAMETER Following documents shall be considered as reference for execution of the job: • Architectural GFC drawings provided by consultant. • Signed off checklist of brickwork. MATERIAL Cement, Sand, Water proofing compound of approved brand, Reinforcement fiber (Optional), Hardener(optional), Chicken wire mesh, Concrete Nails, Water. PRINCIPLE A soft mixture of sand and cement with water for spreading on walls, or other structures, to form a smooth hard surface when dried APPARATUS / EQUIPMENT Mixture Machine, Measuring box, Spade, Sand Screener, Tasla, Hammer, Plumb bob, Thread, Right Angle, Aluminum Straight Edge (FANTY), Float, Trowel, broom (Phool Jhadu), empty cement bags/polythene sheet, Wire brush, Sponge, Spirit Level. HEALTH AND SAFETY PROVISION • The workplace is to be free from all kind of debris. • Specific safety measures are to be followed as per safety manual. • All working platforms are to be inspected to ensure that all challis and other material used for platform are tightened with the supporting structure. • Protective shed is provided at desired level using Challi and GI sheet. • Safety Belts to be worn and anchored, at all times while working at height.
PREPARATORY WORK • Obtain relevant approved GFC drawings. • Panels (approx. 20m in length) that are to be covered in every lot to be decided, marked and signed off on drawings in advance. • Level dots to be provided on walls at 1.5m spacing. • All depressions exceeding 12mm and projections exceeding 6mm in base surface to be repaired before starting the plaster work. • Hacking and cutting (if necessary) to be done on all RCC members. • 6” wide chicken wire mesh to be fixed on joints of RCC members & brick work / Block work. • Surface to be kept moist by curing for at least 2 days prior to start of plaster. • Polythene sheet/empty cement bags are to be placed on ground for re-use of cement mortar. WORKMANSHIP Mixing: Dry mix is prepared in mixture machine taking proper quantity of cement and sand using measuring boxes. After dry mix is prepared suitable quantity of water mixed with water proofing compound is added as per workability requirement. Line and Level: plaster work is to be done in proper line & level. Wall plastered should be in plumb/line (as per instruction of Project Manager. Right angle to be checked on corners. Finishing: Finishing is to be done using Aluminum Straight Edge & Float. Plastered surface to be cleaned using broom (Phool Jhadu). PROCEDURE 1. Cement slurry to be spread all over the surface where plaster is to be done. 2. Dry mix in ratio of 1:6 for wall plaster to be prepared in mixture machine is added with suitable amount of water mixed with water proofing compound (in ratio as suggested by manufacturer) as per workability requirement. Right kind of measurement box to be used for mixing. 3. Thickness of plaster to be 6-18mm for single layer plaster (except Chennai and Pune).
4. In case of double or triple layer plaster base coat/intermediate coat thickness to be 8-15 mm and final layer to be 6-10mm. 5. For Chennai and Pune All External plaster upto 25mm thickness is to be done in two layers. 6. Under any circumstances plaster thickness should not exceed 32mm done in three layers. (12+12+ 8mm). 7. For requirements (other than Architectural Elevation) of 3rd layer plaster, approval is required from location construction head. 8. Plaster thickness on all projections (Chajja, coping, beading) to be 6-12mm. 9. Drip coarse to be provided on all chajjas/External Beams over openings. 10. Templates shall be used for external features. 11. Finishing is to be done using Aluminum Straight Edge & wooden Float. Plastered surface to be cleaned using broom (Phool Jhadu), 12. Date is to be marked on plastered surface. 13. 7 day curing is to be done on all plastered surface 3-4 times a day. 14. After the plaster work is over, balcony grill and scaffolding material shall be cleaned.
