If you weren’t in such a pathetic state, you might have been confused, but the only emotion you feel as your ears—cat ears—twitch and your tail—cat tail—flicks behind you is humiliation, peeking over the blankets you’d drawn up to your chin. “Oh my,” she chirps, “what a predicament you’ve gotten yourself in.” “Please, stop staring.” You pull the blanket over your face. “The demon already let it spill that it would take a few days for it to go away.” You hear shuffling, and then a light touch to your ears has them twitching furiously, trying to free yourself of the tickle. Shinobu chuckles. “How interesting—I’ve never seen a Blood Demon Art like this before.” She continues to play with your ears, scratching, stroking, and you cover your mouth, body so warm and humiliation quickly gives in to comfort as there’s a rumble coming from your chest. You swipe at her blindly. “My, my,” she says, you hear the smile in her voice. “I thought you didn’t like animals with fur.” You peek at her from under the blanket, ears pressed flat against your head. “Well, you aren’t an animal, are you?” she muses, fingers once again stroking those soft ears. You want to twitch away, but it feels so nice. “If you were turned into a full animal I might have refused to treat you,” she says, and you wince. “Rude.” Try as you might, there’s an undeniable purr emanating from your chest as she plays with your ears. It gets worse when you turn on your stomach and cover your ears with your hands, because she trails her fingers lightly down your spine and you arch up against her hand, a sound escaping that’s much too pitched to be any sort of purr. She’s frozen beside your bed. You want to die. Then, she does it again, and you shudder, stifling that embarrassing sound in your pillow. Your lower half arches off the bed, and when she scratches the base of your spine actual tears spring to your eyes, the sensation so satisfying and good and you never want it to end— 4
