ASSESSMENT TESTING - "appraise or estimate the level or magnitude of some attribute of a person" (Mousavi, 2009) - In educational practice: • “an ongoing process that encompasses a wide range of methodological techniques” • systematic process of documenting and using empirical data on the knowledge, skills, attitudes and beliefs ⇨ includes both formal and informal measures ⇨ to make improvements, as opposed to simply being judged ⇨ to develop learners’ confidence in the ability to learn and learners’ lifelong learning skills - the use of standardized procedures and instruments to measure a person’s knowledge, skills or abilities in a particular area ⇨ includes formal measures ⇨ to obtain a score or measurement of a person’s proficiency in a specific area ⇨ being judged ⇨ students are given the exact procedures for administering and scoring in testing
