4 RBI NEWS News-1 RBI instructs all banks, financial companies, and other regulated entities to use PRAVAAH portal from 1st May ● The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that starting from 1st May 2025, all banks, financial companies, and regulated entities must submit their applications for regulatory authorisations, licences, and approvals exclusively through the Platform for Regulatory Application, Validation And AutHorisation (PRAVAAH) portal. ● In May 2024, the RBI launched PRAVAAH as a secure and centralised web-based portal for any entity or individual to seek authorisation, license or regulatory approval on any reference made by it to the Reserve Bank. ● Since its launch, the PRAVAAH portal has facilitated receipt of nearly 4,000 applications/requests. News-2 RBI directs banks and White Label ATM Operators to ensure ATMs dispense ₹100 and ₹200 notes on a regular basis ● The Reserve Bank of India asked banks to ensure that ATMs dispense Rs 100 or Rs 200 denomination notes to enhance the availability of these currency notes to the public. ● Banks and White Label ATM Operators (WLAOs) have to implement the direction in a phased manner. ● According to the circular, by September 30, 2025, 75 percent of all ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) shall dispense either Rs 100 or Rs 200 denomination banknotes from at least one cassette. ● By March 31, 2026, 90 per cent of all ATMs shall dispense either Rs 100 or Rs 200 denomination banknotes from at least one cassette. News-3 Reserve Bank of India extends the deadline for Bureau of Indian Standards-compliant note sorting machines to November ● The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the deadline for banks to comply with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) regulations for Note Sorting Machines. ● The revised implementation timeline is now set for November 1, 2025, due to challenges raised by banks. ● All other provisions from the previous circular dated October 30, 2024, remain unchanged. ● Standards for the Note Sorting Machine - Indian Standard - IS 18663:2024 News-4 Non-food bank credit growth decelerates to 12% in March 2025, says RBI ● Non-food bank credit growth slowed to 12 per cent year on year in March 2025, as of the fortnight ending March 21, said Reserve Bank of India(RBI).
