Nội dung text Bomb girl arc - Reze analysis

*We know hybrids aren’t affected by aging and with Denji and Reze both being hybrids, they most likely would be a perfect fit.* Over the course of the story, she develops a deep connection and romantic relationship with Denji. Reze's backstory is revealed to be more complex than initially assumed through dialogue and exposition. Only in chapter 52, she is revealed to be subjected to various experiments and enhancements with the Soviet fairy tale explained by Kishibe at the beginning of the chapter. She was similar to Denji in several ways. Reze found herself relating to him a lot with the way Denji was raised; They both grew up as parallels, such as them both being just a tool for the government and both not going to school, wishing for a better/normal life. Exhibit A.) Image shown: Reze shows concern for Denji’s living situation and well-being, in Chapter 42 “Teach me how to Swim” In chapter 52, she thinks back to when they first met. The reason she didn’t try to kill him when they first met is that she saw herself in Denji because following that thought, she says “the truth is, i've never gone to school either” empathizing with his living situation. She went on a date with him to get to know her target better, but really connected with him when he said he never went to school. Because she was an orphan weapon for the Soviets, she didn’t have many close connections or anyone but Denji, she found herself feeling normalcy around him. So when she asked him to run away with her, she thought of both their living situations. In her short time with Denji, Reze ended up being the only girl who saw Denji, for Denji knowing he’s Chainsaw man, and really saw herself in him. Reze truly did love Denji Reze really did like Denji early on. Most would say she only felt feelings towards him at the end, but you’ll figure out she liked him way before that. She wasn't lying about the things she said to him and was herself on their date in the school; We know their time together was genuine because if Denji did take up the offer of running away together, The things Reze did in the school such as teaching him things or saying she likes him weren’t to manipulate him and she would have betrayed her country and abandon her duties for Denji. She ended up falling for Denji during their time in the school. She meant it when she said she wanted to run away with Denji. In chapter 47 when she realizes he’s Makima’s pet, she lets out a literal sigh of defeat. She says, “Even if we did run away together, it would have been useless.” Showing she honestly did want to run away with him and seriously considered abandoning her mission.
Exhibit B.) Image shown above: Reze tells Denij she likes him while blushing, stumbling over her words stuttering a bit, Chapter 44 “Boom Boom Boom” Their entire fake roleplay thing in the school is inherently romantic due to the situation it was played out in. Reze knowing Denji's background wants to give him that school feeling, making him happy and giving him a good time. She’s giving him normality and the slice of life he was missing despite not going to school herself, showing compassion, selflessness and care. “Denji, the truth is... i’ve never gone to school either” It's an impactful and emotional line that ties everything they did together and the symbolism of the school and connects their stories. Looking back, it’s tragic realizing Reze never went to school and it seems like she was projecting during their time. It was meant to hurt you as a reader, that Denji would never know she herself didn’t go to school. After the silly fake roleplay hijinks, Denji and Reze go skinny dipping. Swimming with her is great character development for Denji. This is his first time being naked with a girl, and in his words, “It's my first time seeing nipples! Below the waist below the waist WAAAAAAH!!”. Despite him showing symptoms of being a horny teenager earlier in the story, he doesn’t see her like he saw Power in the beginning. It’s an important part of Denji and Reze’s relationship where he's just having fun and learning to swim and not in a way where it seems like it only exists to get Reze naked. It's just 2 crushes having a nice time. It shows how Denji ́s sexism isn't anything personal and he is willing to put extra effort to have healthy relationships with women. Reze’s time with Denji in the pool was a heart to heart and showed she was vulnerable around Denji. Being the Bomb Devil hybrid, her weakness is water and being in a full body of it, she let her guard down. Denji knows she was honest here because it's what he uses to defeat her, and thinks back to when she taught him to swim in chapter 51. This shows she didn’t have the intent to kill Denji here. Since we know their time on the date was genuine, she really cared for Denji. Exhibit C.) Images shown above: Reze wants to show Denji everything he doesn’t know or can’t do, showing compassion and care for him, Chapter 42 “Teach me how to Swim”
