Why We Need Food ▪ Gives us energy to work and play ▪ Helps us grow and stay healthy ▪ Keeps our body strong ▪ Helps us fight illness Types of Food ▪ Plant-based foods: fruits, vegetables, grains ▪ Animal-based foods: milk, eggs, meat ▪ Different tastes: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy Parts of Plants We Eat ▪ Roots: carrot, radish, beetroot ▪ Leaves: spinach, cabbage, methi ▪ Stems: potato, ginger, onion ▪ Fruits: apple, mango, guava ▪ Seeds: grains, pulses, dry fruits Seasonal Foods ▪ Summer foods: mangoes, watermelon, cool drinks ▪ Winter foods: carrots, peas, hot soups We get different fruits and vegetables in different seasons
