Turning to the reasons behind the visits, holidays were the predominant motivation for travel to the UK; however, their figures saw a decline of 5 percentage points, dropping from 44.1% to 39.1% between 1980 and 2010. The category labeled “other” experienced an even more pronounced decrease, almost halving to 9.8% by 2010.
