[2] (b) Explain one benefit to a business of workforce planning. [3] Answer (a) It is a plan that assess the current workforce and actions necessary to meet businesses future labor needs to achieve business goals. Main features include what type of worker is needed, the relevant skills as well as the location where they will be employed along with the number of workers. (b) One of the benefits of having a workforce plan is that it will help a business to analyze and anticipate the future needs of the organization for particular skilled workers. This can help in training activities and identify the gaps that currently exist. The HR can ensure that the labor is skilled which leads to less quality issues and defects resulting in lower cost to fix errors and reducing the cost of wastage.

[3] Answer (a) Labor Turnover is regarded as the rate at which employees are leaving an organization during a certain time period. The company ensures this by drawing an accurate job description and person specification which helps the HR to short-list only those people who match these documents accurately and offer the job to the best candidates. This will ensure that best workers are picked who have an interest in the work therefore they are less likely to quit which leads to a reduction in labor turnover.

[2] (b) Explain one advantage to a business of internal recruitment. [3] Answer (a) It is when the firm advertises the position outside the business premises. The aim is to search the employee pool outside of its own employees to fill the position. Examples: In universities, govt. job centers, newspapers etc. (b) One benefit of internal recruitment is that the worker does not require induction training. Since the employee already knows the strengths, weaknesses, style of management and culture of the organization he/she would be productive quickly. This is important specially in those situations where the organization needs a person in top level position where understanding of the entire organization is crucial the business success.

[2] (b) Explain one advantage to an employer of using a person specification. [3] Answer (a) A job description is detailed list of key points about the job to be filled. It has the all the relevant details about the job, from the job title to the tasks and responsibilities involved. (b) One key benefit of a person specification is that it helps in the recruitment and selection process by providing a clear and structured framework for evaluating candidates. It ensures that both the hiring team and potential candidates have a clear understanding of the qualifications and characteristics required for the job. This clarity can streamline the recruitment process and attract candidates who are a good fit for the role. This ensures that only the best workers are selected and issues like labor turnover and demotivation do not exist.
