Department of Panchakarma, NIA - Jaipur Page 3 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:-  To study the pathogenesis of Amavata.  To assess the effect of Virechana and Shamana yoga (Amritadi Kwath) in Amavata.  To assess the effect of Kala Basti and Shamana yoga (Amritadi Kwath) in Amavata.  To assess the efficacy of Shamana yoga (Amritadi Kwath).  To compare the effect of Virechana and Kala Basti in disease Amavata.  The present dissertation work consists of following parts  Conceptual Contrive  Drug Contrive  Clinical Contrive  Discussion  Summary and conclusion. Conceptual Contrive: The context deals with Virechana Karma and Basti Karma Review which includes, Concept of selection and detailed description about Virechana, along with its indications, contra indications, Pathya-Apathya has been mentioned briefly and historical view of both, modern and Ayurveda, Ayurvedic concept of the disease Amavata. Clinical classification of the disease Amavata with comparison to the modern Free radical and antigen theory in the production of the disease is included. The modern concepts regarding this disease are also described along with Ayurvedic points. And Virechana Karma and Basti Karma Review which includes, Concept of selection and detailed description about Virechana, along with its indications, contra indications, Pathya-Apathya has been mentioned briefly. Drug Contrive: This chapter contains the list of the drugs which were selected for the present study, their pharmaceutical properties and some research works over them.

The descriptive statistical analysis of the sample taken for the study is methodically elaborated. Total 30 patients were treated in three groups as- Group A: Virechana Karma followed by Shamana yoga: 10 patients Group B: Basti Karma followed by Shamana yoga : 10 patients Group C: Shamana Yog: 10 patients The observations, results and their statistical analysis are presented in order with tables. Discussion: In this part an illustrative attempt has been made to point out hidden facts in conceptual and clinical contrive. Summary and Conclusion: This last chapter summarizes the extensive profile of this work and provides conclusions which are presented at the end of this study. Lastly this thesis is adjunct with bibliography and research proforma.
