Nội dung text Steel’s Guide to the Wild Shape Druid

Legend and Intro Red (*): Signifies an extremely niche or limiting choice. Not recommended. Orange (**): Signifies a choice that’s only good for a few builds, or is very situational. Green (***): Signifies a good choice for most Wild Shape Druids. Blue (****): Signifies an excellent choice for most Wild Shape Druids. So why a Wild Shaping Druid? If you are in love with the idea of a shape-shifting, flexible, able to wade into melee self-buff caster, then a Wild Shape Druid is for you. If you want to turn into LITERAL Godzilla, or a huge dragon, or a phoenix, this is for you. Why can’t you do X in Wild Shape? Because balance.Because it was instead attached to a caster base, they had to be restrictive with the abilities and power of Wild Shape (see more in Wild Shape Criticisms). However, this guide will do its best to detail ways you can get the most out of your Wild Shape focused Druid.
Wild Shape Rules and Tips This section of the guide is just to detail the rules and guidelines of Wild Shape. Wild Shape is a two action Focus Spell with the Polymorph trait. The most important rules are listed below: The Wild Shape Form spells usually provide the following special statistics: ● Attack bonus: This is your total bonus to attack that you add to your d20 roll with your Strikes ○ Wild Shape also gives you +2 status bonus to attack when you use your own attack bonus ■ This is what makes a Wild Shape focused Druid useful. Without it, you have Caster Proficiency. With it, you essentially have Martial Proficiency. Note that if you have a Bard or Marshal in your party, you will not gain any bonus to attack from their Inspire Courage or Inspiring Marshal Stance. In that case you will lag behind actual Martials. See the Wild Shape Criticisms section for more information. ● Damage bonus: This is the total bonus to damage you add to your Weapon Damage Dice. ● AC Bonus: You add your level to whatever the bonus provided is. ● Athletics or Acrobatics bonus: This is your total bonus when you try to use Athletics or Acrobatics that you add to your d20 roll. ● Attacks: You can only use the listed attacks, usually just Unarmed Strikes but some creatures have other abilities such as a breath weapon. ● Temporary HP: you gain this initially when you cast Wild Shape and take the appropriate form ● Additional abilities as listed. Additional rules: ● A second Polymorph effect attempts to counteract Wild Shape. ● Unarmed Strikes granted are magical. ○ This can help you bypass the resistance of some creatures. ● Cannot take the form of a specific individual creature, only a generic creature of that type. ○ This means if you want to try and Impersonate someone else with Thousand Faces, you still need to Disguise yourself. More on that later. ● Lasts for 1 minute. ○ Relatively short, but most combat in Pathfinder 2e will not last more than 10 rounds. ● Can be Dismissed. ○ You can Dismiss Wild Shape as a single action to then cast a two action spell if you need to for some reason. ● Battle form special statistics can only be adjusted by circumstance bonuses, status bonuses, and penalties. ○ Note that this means if you use Handwraps of Might Blows, you will only receive the item bonus to attack when you are using your own attack bonus. You cannot receive the item bonus if you are using the attack bonus listed in the spell. The Striking Property Rune will not apply to any of your forms’ damage dice. ○ Armor Potency Runes will not affect the AC granted by the spells. ● Battle forms prevent you from casting spells, speaking, and using most Manipulate actions that require hands. ○ This sucks, and the fact that you get locked out of one of your main class features by using Wild Shape is anti-fun. Hence why I would prefer if they made a Wild Shape Martial
