kindness, understanding, empathy and consideration to uphold the rights and DIGNITY freedoms of all persons Commitment to effective and efficient client- centered- service through leadership, teamwork and intelligence-led-policing EXCELLENCE CHAPTER 2D Code of Conduct of the Police Service The nature and functions of the Police Service in defense of Public Order require that the manner in which duties are exercised is consistent since there is a direct impact on the quality of life of the individual and society as a whole. More importantly, there must be the inspiration to perform these duties diligently and with dignity that affords the quality of service which the Police Service is capable of and is borne out by our motto: ‘TO PROTECT AND SERVE WITH P.R.I.D.E.” 1. It shall be the duty of all police Officers to: a. prevent and detect crime and other infractions of the law; b. keep the peace; c. assuage fear of crime and disorder and, wherever possible, to enlist the help of our fellow citizens in achieving these ends. 2. In the performance of these duties, Police Officers must uphold the fundamental rights and freedoms enshrined in our Constitution by sustaining whole-heartedly. a. The right to free speech b.
